Indexing in Isawiki
In a conventional search engine, indexing is the process of collecting, parsing, and storing data for the purpose of delivering the most relevant search results for a users search query.
In Isawiki, this process is all done by people rather than machines. It might take a lot longer for people to do this, but the results will be a lot better about 80% of the time. For the other 20% of the time (ie. for the less common searches), conventional search engines will still need to be used.
In Isawiki, indexing consists of:-
- Specifying the search phrases that it will be found for (with query strings)
- Specifying the snippet text of a search result (ie. the title and description)
- Specifying the order in which the results will be displayed ( more...)
- Specifying the region if applicable (more...)
- Specifying related topics in the menu on the left (more...)
